the swoosh brand

The French Federation of football ( FFF) chose Nike as clothes manufacturer. The swoosh brand will succeed Adidas on January 1st, 2011. The agreement concerns seven and a half years, till the end of June, 2018, and a financial contribution from 320 million euro, that represents 42,66 million euro a year. Nike, whose contract is accompanied by bonuses connected to the results of the blue team, will also supply annual 2,5 million equipments in the FFF.
The performances of the french team are not excelentes for the moment but it is another bet on the future that nike has done.

This commercial has been made in 2007 just before the rugby world cup in France. In fact, there was a lot of interests for the rugby french team at this moment and nike took benefit on it with this commercial.
We can see all the french team with their coach who are in the vestiary just before the match.
There is not a lot of light, the music and the sound are very calm with low sound! we can hear the coach speaking, the french hymn, the supporter crying,…
We are in the head of the player and we identify to them.
At the end, the sentence just do it is the slogan of the brand and it means that it’s possible to
win the world cup. An other meaning is also for the young who is looking the commercial:” I can do it too, I can be a great player, I have to wear nike!”

At the begining of the 80′s, the running shoe phenomenon that had fueled nike sales in previous years was slowly dying, and they needed a way to revitalize themself and their sales. Nike had no credit in basketball at this time and them idea has been to associate with the rookie player Mickael Jordan.

The Air Jordan I pair was designed in 1984 by peter moore and it was the begining of 23 pairs of jordan shoes. The last one arrived just this year and you can see it in the hand of mister Jordan on the picture. Since 1984, each year a new pair of the collection is gone and the name of jordan is associated with nike for life!

Jordan is the best player ever known for every basketball fans, he weared the number 23 on the ground and the last shoes of the collection is of course the jordan23!

Jordan won 6 times the NBA championship, 2 times the olympic games, and a lot of others awards. For me, he’s the best ambassador that nike has never known!

Nike’s first professional athlete endorser was Romanian tennis player Ilie Năstase. It was at the beginning of the brand and not a lot of people remember him.
Nike has sponsored over the years a lot of succesfull athletes such as Carl Lewis, Pete Sampras, Mickael Jordan, Christiano Ronaldo,…
As you can see, the brand is present in every sport, athletism, soccer, basket ball, cricket, golf… but the most lucrative sport for nike in term of succesfull player is the tennis. In fact during the 20 past years, nike has sponsored all the tennisman who have been number one at the ATP.
The players are not the only to be sponsored by nike. Teams and international teams are also very important for the brand. For example, in france, the brand sponsors the rugby and the basket-ball internationnal teams. In the First level of soccer in France, nike is the most representative with 5 teams which play with his clothes.

Here is the last Nike advertisement. As you will see, it is very particular because of the way to film. In fact we directly are the football player between the beginnings of his career!
There are a lot of reasons why I find this ad terrific!
First, it can be a real story and every body can identify to the player.
In my mind we are in the head of Robbin Van Persie because he comes from Holland and he plays in Arsenal.
An other reason is that it’s the new view of all the greatest players of the world. I have never seen next to Ronaldinho or Christiano Ronaldo before.

The subject of my blog is one of the most famous brands over the world. The swoosh brand is in fact NIKE!

I chose this subject because I love the different advertising of the company since years, I like the items they sell and I want to share what I like with you.
